In GPUz, for the "VRM Temperature 1" reading, where is the VRM1 actually located on the card? Is it the small one near the backplate or is it the large one near the fan?

I *think* VRM1 is the cluster on the left, and VRM2 is the main "strip" of VRMs. At least my VRM2s always ran hotter than VRM1s on the 290s I have and have had.

^^I always forget this too. If unsure its usually the hotter one that goes up and down more often.

Iirc its the one for the big line of fets near the fan.

However it's for one point, not an average of the group of fets, so you could have one phase overheating and it still not report the right temp cuz its not averaged.

I can confirm, the large one IS VRM1. I pointed a fan at it now and temp dropped from 90C to 75C.
