AMD 2800+ Buy

Costco has this machine on sale for $500 with monitor, 512Meg of DDR RAM and 120G hard drive with DVD and CD-RW. I know why: GATEWay is moving old stock out. Good buy for now? Any problems?

E-Machines is now Gateway, its ok at best. if you want it for basic internet surfing and maybe some low-tech games you should be find.

I would probably buy it and then gut it for the processor and maybe mobo, use the monitor as a secondary monitor, sell the hdd, opticals...

(assuming you have decent graphics card, soundcard, psu, etc from another machine
Monitor probably $120
CPU $180
Mobo probably $100
120G HDD probably $85
DVDrom $40
CDRW $40
512 cheapo ram probably 65$
Rough total value: $630

build your own for that price and have something you can count on go with a mobile barton and an78x or nf7-s mb
