It would help hugely if you would tell which Asus motherboard you own. They make more than one!;) Anyway, you may very well have to get rid of that PC4000 (why did you buy a second stick of ram, and not get the same speed?) and just keep the PC3200, if you want stability, especially with overclocking. And since you didn't say anything in your post that I can give you an answer to, I guess that's all I can tell you, besides to check out the new overclocking guide that anandtech just posted.

sry my asus is the a7v600-x (hope thats waht u wanted ) and i bought the second stick because i wasnt sure if the pc4000 was going to work or not and when it did work i just put in the 256. Should i take back the 512 and get pc3200 ? I bought the 512 in the first place cuz i got it cheap at best buy (employee disc. are nice lol) so anyway i just was talking to a guy that works in computers and he started running off all this stuff and i was like yeah um sure. but he said something about my front side bus not being fast enough for the 512 and said to come here and post and see if anyone would help me so yeah thats it thanks in advance.

Yes, take it back and try to get an identical stick of PC3200. And he was right, PC4000 is for P4-based systems, mostly, but definitely useless for Athlon XP's. You will actually get better performance with PC3200, but it's a pretty complicated explanation, so you would just be hearing "Yada, yada, yada" anyway.;)

Well, if it's HyperX, it should run great at 2-3-3-6. If it's the Value stuff, set it to 2.5-3-3-7. And I would raise the voltage (called vdimm in the bios) to at least 2.6v, if that isn't the default.
