Hey I am looking for some help on deciding between the 2800 barton with the 512 cashe or the 2700 tbred. I would like to overclock and have herd that both processors are decent. The 2700 is about $45 cheaper. Are the 2700 processors multipliers unlocked? I plan on buying either the abit nf7-s or the asus A7N8X deluxe, any recommendations? Finally?I just bought 2 sticks of pc2700 512MB crucial memory. Will this be sufficient for either of these mobo?s and overclocking?

if you want to overclock a barton, go with the barton 2500+... they are averaging around 2.3 ghz and they have the extra 256k L2 cache...

BUT....

if you want the best bang for you buck, i'd have to tell you to go with the 1700+ .... these babies have been consistently hitting over 2.3 ghz these days all on air with no problem at all...

and they are A LOT cheaper than the 2800+'s

something for you to think about....

pc2700 should be okay ... but i'd upgrade to some pc3200 if i possible...

motherboard: both are great boards!

only difference mostly is the fact that the a7n8x has dual lan while nf7-s has only singl onboard lan...

both are great boards... you can't go wrong with either...

if you don't want all the bells and whistles, you may consider also getting an epox 8rda+ they are great and VERY cheap...
