You know, you really don't need to keep bumping your own post. If people are interested in the thread, they'll post themselves.

What is better a 1 gig 266 fsb chip or a 1 gig 200 fsb chip that you lower the multiplier and run at 266?

That's $100 more than the regular 1GB chip. Can't you just scribble all over a regular chip to make it into a 266 or is there really a difference with the new chip?

Is this really a hot price or Hot because thay are hard to find?
Here is the pricing according to AMD website:

1200MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) $363
1200MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $330
1133MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) $319
1100MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $290
1000MHz (266MHz Front-side Bus) $256
1000MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $233
950MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $193
900MHz (200MHz Front-side Bus) $172

I know this is for 1000 unit trays....but we all know we find them cheaper than this for singles.

THis is, of course, all good...but all 200MHz FSB 1.2's come multiplier unlocked so there's no functional difference for 1.2's at least.

Edit: And 200FSB 1.2 OEM's can be had for bout 270 + shipping...or you can pick on up at a computer fair and be sure to get a "blue core" for about $270-280 (at least in L.A.).

No physical difference between 266 and 200. The multipliers are just lowered in the 266 version.

You are right, but from what Ive read, the additional bandwidth that raising the fsb provides gives the overall system performance a boost. In fact, Anand said most of the gain seen in the early ddr systems was due to the increased fsb and not the ram change.

thats true but you can do it yourself.
If you do it yourself you can more clockspeed, put your multiplyer at whatever you feel like...and do it all cheaper to boot.

Sorry guys, but PC Progress said yesterday that it would be another 10 to 15 days before they got Athlon C 1200 with 256mhz fsb. Note also, that by the second week of March when two new procs are out in 266 verC, prices are set to drop rapidly. I'm not willing to spend that much on a 1gig that will be cheap in less than a month's time.

This post is only for people who like to waste money....I am one of those I can actually afford to go out and buy something that will be $100.00 cheaper in a week. I DONT CARE. I had it first I got to pave the way for others I can critique it first.

Heh, werk, I agree with you, but this is a guy who said it's not a hot deal, yet posted it in the hot deals forum. You think that logic will work? ;) I say let it die if it's not a hot deal (unless he bumps it, heh heh).
