AMD 2600+ ETA 10/1 ?????

Duvie

I saw this at pricewatch as one of the only 2 listed for the 2 newer amd Tbred rev b chips....

This truly hits the plateau of pathetic...They paper launched these chips almost 1-1/2 months before ppl could buy them so they could look good???? I lost a bit of respect for them...I say LAME...

Hell 2-3 weeks would have been excusable...

INtel could have the 3.06ghz out by end of the month in October maybe they should paper launch in about 2 weeks!!!😉

AMD may need to paper launch all their new chips to look good until hammer comes out...The 2700+ with the 33mhz fsb likely wont be seen until first of Nov.

The usual FlameBait from the Intel-FanBoy Posse. If you don't want it, why should it bother you? In fact, I here you two guys talking more on here about AMD than anything else.

Latent AMD-uality maybe?

Agreed....

I know is it any wonder that this thread was started by Duvie? And who is to respond first? None other than the other resident Intel Fanboy, SSXEON. The Intel Flame Bait Posse strikes AGAIN, haha, what a great name.

Oh thats nothing compared to the paper-launched PIII Coppermine @ 1GHz that wasn't available for at least 3 months.... Why didn't anyone mention that? 😛

First of all, there are no Intel fanboys. The term was coined in reference to AMD fans...

Second, I think Duvie has changed from being pro AMD to being pro Intel over the last 3-4 months! This is something I've really been noticing more and more recently. Heck, I can remember a time, maybe six months ago, that he kinda got on my case when I started a thread dealing either the poor financial state of AMD or with some tactics that AMD was using to mislead its customers/investors.

Be careful or this will happen to you too! I was once an AMD "fan" (not a fanboy though!) & wanted to show Intel by buying an AMD chip (because it cost less). Unfortunately, I had problems with the AMD chips so I went over to Intel. With the way Intel is pushing the envelope (I think I read this weekend that 5GHz will be out by the end next year 🙂), it's doubtful AMD will ever get me back. I am thankful that AMD woke Intel up!

Heh, I remember about six months ago (before Duvie got his first Northwood), everyone was calling him an AMD fanboy.

I wish you guys would make up your mind. 😉

LMAO

Apparantly you can only be a FANBOY if you are obssesed with AMD CPU's, not Intel?

Still LMAO...

In AMD's defense, there's a good chance that what's happening is that the first shipments are all allotted to the OEM system builders (HP, etc.) and that the retail channel takes a lower priority than OEM partners. A better example of a shipping date will be when you can first buy systems in a store or online. I have heard some people complain that something is a "paper launch" if they are unable to buy immediately (and I'm not referring to anyone in this thread, but more in general). But factoring in OEM agreements, demand, etc. it can sometimes take a while before things appear on Pricewatch.

Not that I am saying that this happened in this case. I honestly don't know. But I am offering a possible explaination.

I am a little surprised at the liberal use of the term "fan-boy" nowadays. It is a label that is used to throw doubt on a person's post without consideration of the facts/ideas/opinions that they have presented. ie. "You are a fan-boy so what you are saying isn't worth considering." This labelling of an opponent in order to minimze the validity of their statements is a very old and very poor debating technique. It is far more effective to actually post a rebuttal to the opinion rather than merely labelling the opponent that you disagree with.

You are a fanboy if you make a thread for every bit of negative news you can dig up about the opposing company, like SSXEON and Duvie have been doing.

So it seems people don't think Hammer is gonna beat whatever is on the market? I'm thinking Hammer will regain the speed crown for AMD and then Intel may get it back with Prescott and it will be back and forth like it is now.

Whatever...

The cool thing is that we're getting into some outrageous speeds w/o spending very much $. I don't know where these analysts & some of the main-line PC magazines get off by telling people not to buy more computer than they need. Don't any of them multi-task? I've always got a game of Civ3 running while in between turns or in the background I'm simultaneously downloading audio/video files from multiple sources(Kazaa, Morpheus, eDonkey, Hotline, etc.), have several browser windows open reading web pages, am playing MP3's, burning CD's (sometimes simultaneously to two different CDRW's) w/ Nero, crunching some work-related spreadsheet in Excel, receiving/sending email messages in Outlook, have Dragon Nat Speaking running for ad hoc dictation, etc. I doubt I'll ever be satisfied w/ my speed because there's always going to be more to do - heck, I've just started to scratch the surface w/ messing around with Autocad & Photoshop & once I add them to the mix...

While it may be more effective to post a rebuttal, it's simply much easier to call someone a name.

In other words.... Instead of debating the topic at hand, it's much easier just to label someone and disregard what they actually said. Whether or not their statement is valid/accurate is of no concern.

Hey don't call me a fanboy cause I stated the truth....I may not have been around with the p3 fiasco but I can at least comment on this...

I challenge you to find me starting negative threads on amd....I am merely stating a fact with my opinion as to how I think of this action....

call me a fanboy but I would think most reasonable amd ppl would agree I help amd ppl alike with intel ppl and I know when it is a better deal to get amd and when it is not...I am hardly a fanboy or a zealot...i go with who is producing at the moment. I am a fan of technology!!!

Sorry some of you 16year olds can't figure that out.....

I did build an amd system for work and I like it...It does what it was expected to do...fast cadd operations..no ocing....and relatively inexpensive...plain and simple...

Some people do it to themselves:

SSXeon5:dont flame me but this is a Intel Fanboy asking a question: Are thease really realworld?
