AMD 2500+ or Pentium4 2.3... in a laptop?

No ... not another AMD vs. Intel war...

Just a simple question...

The laptop will be used for normal net surfing, playing dvds with office apps and rarely games...

The RAM, hdd, all being same...the AMD is 100$ cheaper....

p.s. If it matters... its a compaq machine...

 
get the lowest speed u can get man, if you aint gonna play you'd better get a 1.4 mhz celery in there, your battery will last eons longer.

I agree, the mobile 2500+ would be fast but why not consider a Pentium-M?

budget is around 1000$ and battery life is of not much importance to me.

Get the AMD model- not only is the Athlon a better performer in office / business apps, those Compaq P4 laptops get really hot. A friend of mine has the 2.4Ghz model and the fan is almost always on.
