first of all, a decent Dual Mobo is like 200-300, jeez, and without much features, I wonder when the dual mobos will mature in features and reduce in cost :p

only if i could get hold of a cheap dual amd mobo =/

True, the motherboards are more expensive. But you can get the Tyan Tiger S2460 for less than $200.

In fact,
here is the link to it for $161.66, but as you say this thing surely is not feature rich!

Furthermore you need to use registered ECC PC2100 memory, which isnt the cheapest...

But overall I like the setup, and I am in the middle of building a dual system based on the Tyan Tiger S2466...

The nice thing is its an ATX footprint so I can use a mid-tower case and a (fairly) typical power supply.

Actually, it's funny with Dual AMD systems. They have all worked (with me so far), with strictly XP chips. A fellow down the hall is running dual XP 1800+s in his, and it works fine. AMD even stated this when the XP and athlon were out, but the MPs would be "guaranteed". Don't waste your money, if it doesn't work, just exchange for another one. It's so easy.

Peace, and good luck,
