AMD 1Gig Processor running too hot??????

I have a TBird, running at 1gig (not over clocked) its an ARGA processor....

and it usually idles at 50-60 degrees celcius... i've never had a lockup/bsod with it, and i'm wondering how hot is too hot?? i have a themaltake Volcano2 on it and its not overclocked.. i'm just curious what the deal is??

thanks alot.

what I've read on the subject it seems that around 70c is where heat problem start so 50 to 60 should be finemine runs just a lil under 50c
ooops mine is an amd athlon 1 gig cpu that is what you are talking about I hope 🙂

Interesting. My TB 1000/200 is running at 30.7ºC, with a TaiSol fan. Maybe I can overclock it to 1200 once I get a better board with a functional Bios.

hey i am running a duron 800@1020 and i'm getting 57C loaded, 50C idle. so basically it sounds like we're both doing about the same. that's not to say that this is good however. i personally think that anything over 40C loaded is too hot (based on the cooler reviews i've read). i'm looking to upgrade to a better cooling system...anyone know something good in the $20-40 range for us?

I have a Thermaltake Volcano 2 and a 1.2 Ghz Athlon. Is that fan loud or what!!! My temp was between 49 - 54 C depending on how hot of a day it is and how hard I am running the CPU. I took off the Heat Sink/Fan to find that the thermal pad melted away from the diode. I scraped off the pad and got some Artic Silver II. Now I am running my CPU at 1.43 Ghz and I range from 44 idle to 51C at a 100% cpu load running L0phtCrack.

it's nice to know that that silver stuff works...i thought it was only a gimmic. hey i hear that if you strap on a 7000rpm delta to the volcano 2 you get amazing cooling performance. not only that but i hear that their new volcano 6cu is awesome...only $15!! i'd like to see some more reviews tho, i read one and the guy got like 47C loaded, which is mediocre in my opinion. i know that the thermaltake sk-6 gets 37C loaded, which is only 2C higher than a cooler that costs $80..

found this site that is suppose to tell the temps cpu's can run but they all sure look extra hot to me

I read on some other places alot depends on what motherboard you have
as to what is considered the normal temp
