I was wondering if any of you chaps (or chapettes) could answer an overclocking questions for me........

I have finished building my system using a AMD 1ghz thunderbird on the (much rated) MSI K7T Pro2A and it's running SWEEET......

.....now I want to go and overclock it but obviously don't wanna wreck the system (being new to this game and all) so what settings would you suggest I make in the BIOS to get the most from the chip???

Thanks v.muchley......

have you unlocked your chip? if not, you need to in order to do multiplier overclocking (which you probably do). unfortunately, this will involve removing your hsf from the chip, unlocking it and putting it all back together. to unlock it you could use a pencil, the loctite rear defogger kit or a conductive pen. once you have it unlocked and all together, go into the bios and start upping the multiplier. you can also up the fsb, but you'll probably run into problems ~110 fsb. don't forget the voltage. you could choose to raise the voltage only if you have problems booting or loading windows or you could just start with 1.85V and 3.45V I/O. anyway, overclocking simply involves running your chip at a higher speed so just play around with the settings and find a speed you like. oh, i almost forgot, make sure you have proper cooling because OC'ing will make things hotter and you don't want to do any permanent damage here.
