Well I decided to start my next rounds of upgrades a little early. So I went to Fry's Elecronics in Sunnyvale, ca. About a block from AMD. I figured I would grab a 1ghz cpu and see how far I could push it. I was going to grab a new 3d card to replace my MX, but i'll wait till the geforce3 comes out and pushes everything elso down to my price point. Also snagged another HD so i can run some raid 0(not to worried about backup/redund. its a game machine only..)
Since some of you here are getting them to 1.3GHZ, i figured why not right..?
I figured, that no matter what, it would be an upgrade from my duron 650@880(was 896 in win98.. but couldnt get back to that with win2k).
Well I'm typing this to you at 1425 with 1.8 volts. AIR Cooled!! HOLY CRAP!! Wierd thing is the Mulip is at 12.5 and FSB is at 112 which should only give me 1400.. Anyone else getting wierd clock speeds at the maximum 12.5 mutiplier? sandra's reports it at 114@12.5 = 1425.. hmmm that puts my memory(mushkin infineon pc133) at 151 cas2.
fyi.. seems like no matter what at 12.5 mutli, it pushes my FSB up by 2. just like as above 112 reporting at 114 FSB
Anyway the reason for the post. I wasnt sure if maybe there is some FAB issues(as some rumors suggest) with the delay of the 1.33 GHZ chips, but it appears that AMD is ready an willing at anytime to launch 1.3GHZ chips.
oh.. btw the marking on this one are avia0109(was kinda pissed when i didnt get an axia as those were the one with the good results.)...
Abit kt7(non a) raid. using the lager Taisol HSF, same i had with duron. 4 80mm case fans in an antec 1030 case w/Arctic silver
temps 34-35 idle - as high as 56-57 under full load. I was getting strange iexplorer crash messages until i up the voltage to 1.8
