Hi,
thanks for looking at this

I has a AMD 1800XP+ on a MSI K7t266 Pro2 MOB that will only run at 100MHZ FSB
I set the FSB to 133MHZ in the BIOS, somtimes it will POST and Lock sometimes it won't POST
I have tryed swopping every part but the CPU
can something be wrong with the CPU I thought that CPU's work or they don't work
can anyone help me with some info

Thanks

you might have the FSB on your motherboard set to 100mhz instead of 133.

according to your motherboards manual, there is a jumper on the motherboard (SW3) located in about the middle of the motherboard, on the opposite side of the PCI slots. if you put the jumper on the top 2 prongs (1 and 2), it should be set to 133mhz.

hope this helps!

This MOB has no jumper for the FSB, you set it in the BIOS and when I set to 133mhz it will lock-up after POST
with the FSB set to 100 it is fine ran a bunr-in for 20 hours ok

Have you tried flashing your bios to the latest version? If that doesn't work, I'd say that you have a bad board and it needs to be rma'd

Yes - I've definitely seen this happen before in one computer. Send the processor back and get another.

Legendary,
Thanks for that INFO, AMD said that NO WAY it is the CPU and because I don't have the AMD fan that my 3 year warranty is no good and I can only get the OEM warranty of 1 year (I'm very happy that I got a few 1800XP in july from newegg)
any how the CPU is in the mail to AMD

I had an MSI K7 Turbo (I think that's what it was) and even though you could set the FSB to whatever you wanted, unless you set the 133MHz Bus jumper, it would boot at 100MHz.

My K7T turbo also has a jumper that you have to set. When I first set it up I didn't understand why it kept freezing, but after I looked in the manual I set the jumper and all was good.
