AMD 1800+ OEM for 112 shipped (Updated: Now hotter)

darn it...the retail is $133. I just bought mine from Newegg last week for $165 shipped. 🙁 Good thing I used Blue.

<< I've got a KT7a that claims support to 1.4 Anyone know if this or any other XP chip would work? >>

I think it will work, just make sure you got the newest version of the BIOS.....

I ordered a 1700+ from them last friday for $107 shipped...It's not scheduled to be delivered until next Wednesday. tcwo has some great prices sometimes, but I can't imagine anyone being slower to process an order.

Rats!!!! Almost bought one from Newegg for $124, but got one in the computer show for $136 'cause I could not wait.
Was able to OC this to 1667 Mhz (11.5 multi x 145 FSB), XP is still locked. Maybe this could sell for less than $100 when the Thoroughbred becomes available. 🙂

I don't know the last BIOS update 07/13/2001 said it added support for the 1.4GHz.

Heh worms you better make sure you have a v1.3 Kta7 . i have a v1.0 and it is not suppose to work with xps' but the duron morgan
works fine.

I've heard the SVC GC68 (30 cfm) is a good quiet, affordable hs/fan if you don't plan on overclocking much. You can find it at www.svcompucycle.com. I have one in transit to replace my loud coolermaster fan. If you have extra cash and want to overclock, the alpha 8045 is your best bet, cost ~$30 + fan, over twice as much as the GC68. As always check the heatsink dimensions, to assure that your fan will fit on your motherboard.

<< is this much faster than the 1.4ghz athlon thunderbird? >>

It runs at 1.53 MHz, but Mhz for MHz the XP does seem faster (to me anyway).

yeah, take your pick. i personally love the epox 8kha+ but the ecs k7s5a w/SIS chipset is like $52 at newegg as well.

Basicially any 266a board without raid will keep you around $200 here. 🙂

<< argghhh somebody stop me from buying this! >>

Hmmm, the amd 1900+ is down to 130. Wait a few weeks and get that one for around 100
