i just finished putting together an amd 1.4 thunderbird and cannot get it to go past 1.3 my specks are
thunderbird 1.4@1.3
300w power supply
maxtor ata 100@7200
Gforce2 gts
lg cdrw
512 mb infinion 133 c2@c2
sound blaster128
msi K7t pro2A
my supplier can't figure it out the machine just hard locks and i mean hard.have to pull the plug to get it to run again.

Doesn't the Pro2-a only support up to 1.2?

I think what may be happeneing is it is maxing at 1.2 and then you're oc'ing from 1.2 to 1.3

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Pro2-a goes up to 1.2...

Sorry...I was wrong but I was on the right track.

The MSI K7T Pro2-A max's out at 1.3 So what you're doing is running a chip that is too fast for your motherboard to handle...so it is automatically underclocking it.

MSI K7T Pro2-A Specs

What you could try and do is overclock from 1.3 to hit 1.4, but that would in a way defeat the purpose of buying the 1.4

" I don't see how a BIOS revision can change what the motherboard can support... "
Um ok, how about by adding more multiplier options! Like some bios updates have done!
Obviously it wont allow ddr ram support on a non ddr board or 233fsb support on a no kt133 chip but multipliers can be added so can memory tweaks!

<< 300 watts for a 1.4? >>

Is perfectly adequate. I can assure you especially in a system like that that isn't even very loaded with dual HDs, dual CDROM drives etc.
