I helped my son build his first computer a few months back.

AMD A6-3650 APU
HD 7790

I went into AMD Catalyst to enable dual graphics but was unable to. I thought these two parts were compatible or is there a specific driver version that needs to be used?

Thanks in advance!

They're not compatible. You also picked a pretty outdated APU. You should have done more research before buying.

On the bright side, the 7790 is powerful enough to stand on its own. It wouldn't have benefited from DG with a weak APU like that in the first place.

The 7790 is powerful enough that any more power is going to be held back by the CPU. In fact in CPU heavy games you will not be able to hit 60 fps.

It was one of those DIY combos from NewEgg and he mostly uses it for school. I was just trying to show him how it works to get him interested in computers. Thanks for the info maybe I'll upgrade to a better APU depending on the socket.
