I just got an invite from one of my buddies go to the 10:30 PM showing of the Matrix Reloaded. "That's funny," I thought, "Because when I bought tickets to the 10:15 show, there wasn't a 10:30 listed."

Well, it seems after the 10:00 and 10:15 shows SOLD OUT, they added another.

Which means they've sold, bare minimum 1200 tickets. At $8.50 a pop, that's over $10G's.

For a while, I was convinced that since this was an R movie, it had no hope of shattering the current record holder for 4 day openings.

I think I'm gonna be proven wrong. I have a feeling that this movie is going to beat the hell out of whatever the 4-day release record holder is, and may even come close to dethroning Spiderman.

Well, at that point it all depends on how many screens it's on.

The current record holder is Spider-man with $114 million.

I  google.

Biggest Opening Weekends

From there:

#5 - 5/17/2002 - Star Wars: Attack of the Clones - $80,027,814 on a 4 day weekend.

I KNOW Reloaded will top that.
If it breaks $100 Million, it'll be in 2nd place, knocking out Harry potter. And if it breaks $114M, it'll be in first.

Originally had 10:00 PM tix myself, but then another buddy wanted in, and I had to hawk them and buy 10:15 PM tix.

And my Agent Smith sunglasses arrived in the mail yesterday. Oh, yeah.

I'd say so. If I were you, I'd have bitched up a storm. It's sad but true, the people who act like assholes are the ones that get to skirt the rules. ;-)

Holy hell.

For sh!ts and giggles, I checked their site again.

5 showings are sold out. 10:00, 10:15, 10:30, and two 10:45 shows, totally filled.
