2 days, 10 movies, 60 bucks (less 20 in GC's)

I've only seen 3 out of the 10 movies so this'll be pretty cool (except for sitting on my ass for so long). Let it be known that I will be hammered across all 10 movies and I live close enough to the theater to come home for several breaks.

Every year, AMC hosts the Best Picture Showcase, showing all of the Best Picture nominees in one day so that film fans can get a refresher before the Academy Awards. As this is the second year that we have 10 Best Pictures nominees, AMC is splitting the complete showcase into two days - the first on Saturday, February 19th, the second on Saturday, February 26th, the day before the Oscars on February 27th. However, this year they're also doing a 24-hour marathon showing all 10 movies in a row from 10AM to 10AM the next day (Oscar Sunday). Dress comfortably and brace yourself to watch all 10 Best Picture Nominees back-to-back.

You can find a complete theater listing of AMC Theatres around the US hosting the showcase (but there will be only 15 of them doing the 24-hour marathon) as well as pricing and schedules for all of the different days on their official website. It costs $60 for a Two-Day Pass, but you get a $20 in AMC Gift Card with it (for use on concessions). You can also spend $35 for the One-Day Pass and a $10 gift card. To participate in the grueling 24-hour marathon, the cost is $50 for the full pass and you get a $20 gift card as well. Pretty good deal for any of the days if you want to see all of the Best Picture noms. Here are the schedules for each day:

Saturday, February 19
11:00 AM - Toy Story 3 (103 min)
1:00 PM - 127 Hours (95 min)
3:00 PM - The Kids Are All Right (106 min)
5:45 PM - True Grit (110 min)
7:45 PM - The Fighter (116 min)

1:00 PM - Black Swan (109 min)
3:10 PM - Inception (148 min)
6:45 PM - The Social Network (121 min)

Just thinking of sitting for so long makes me want to run to the bathroom for a break.

ahem, the movies are not straight.

if there's 2 hours and the movie's 88 minutes you have 32 minutes to leave the theater.

Well if I go to the movies with you, do you promise to hold my hand?

Did 4/5 movies, some guy fainted during the final scenes of 127 Hours. Movie stopped, house lights came on, LAFD rolled through and everything.

Fighter/Toy Story 3 > 127 Hours > The Kids Are Alright

Didn't see True Grit. Fighter was fucking AWESOME. Christian Bale, you are the man.

Event was pretty cool, I'd do it again next year.
