Ambient temps

My Antec Neopower480 PSU recently died and I am wondering if it has to do with the environment I run my computer in.

During the day the ambient temp. ranges between 26 and 29C (80-85F). My CPU runs around 43C and the case temp is around 38C.

I run my computer 24x7.

Could these temps have blown the PSU?

EDIT: Those temps are only during the afternoons. The rest of the day the temps are much cooler.

Hrm...

Well, I've been using a 3.0GHz Intel Northwood for well over a year 24/7/365, and it's always run at 35~45C without issue. So, personally, I don't consider that a problem. However, your case temp seems out of control! If you've got a 'problem', I would judge that's it... 😉

I highly doubt that ambient temps are your problem. I've been using Antec PSUs for years and the ambient afternoon temps in my house run around 80-85° all year round, except for 3-4 months during the summer/fall when the daily ambient runs 95-105° in the afternoon/evening and never gets lower than 82-90° ever. (Knock wood) I've never had a PSU fail yet, Antec or otherwise.

My case temps (~38C) are out of whack? Those don't seem too high to me. What are yours?

My ambient temps are higher than 24C so there is not way my case temps can get to that level. My ambients are around 30-38C.

As far as I'm aware, case =/= mainboard... what are you talking about?
My theory is the motherboard cannot be cooler than the case... 😉

Sorry for being rudementary, but you are evacuating the warm air using case fans, right -- fans mounted in all your blowholes -- front, back, side, et cetera?

*edit*

N/M -- I missed those new 'ambient' temps. In the OP you said 26~29C on peak, and much cooler the rest of the time -- so, yeah, 24C is out of reach, for sure!

Well, I guess you're doing all you can! Maybe you just had a flakey PSU and it decided to die for no good reason. Good luck with the new one!
