I'm really struggling to draw any parallels with amberlamps. He should have gotten off the train/moved to a different car. Even if he was justified in the first 30 seconds (which we can't tell definitively IMO) he wasn't after that.

He should be charged whether the victim wants to cooperate or not.

I hear what you're saying though; even if you're in your 50s but still working construction, you're probably going to be more agile and active than the typical 50 year old. But his primary advantage here was his size.

I think the older guy reacted the way he did because he's sick of young thugs acting tough and disrespectful.

Probably saw it as a teaching moment.

Also, the way the 'victim' tried to follow the old guy at the end was sad. Probably the closest thing to a father he's had. :/
