Looking into amazon web services but unsure about how secure it is.

They offer some basic security for it but can you get something better or non amazon security on it ?

As for running something additional, yes, it is possible, it also depends what you are doing.
They got some 3rd parties that have dedicated security software running on AWS as well.
What level of security are you looking for?
