Update: Here's some new stuff added, as of 7/4/2012:

Binary Domain 75% off ($9.99) (Steam)
The Sims 3 67% off ($9.99) (can be activated on Origin)

Oh So Fine Bundle 75% off ($9.99) (Steam) (that's all three Double Fine games, for the slow)
Square Enix Ultimate Collection 92% off ($7.49) (Steam)
Total War Bundle 78% off ($29.99) (Steam)
Sega Sonic Bundle 58% off ($12.49) (Steam)
The Storming, Burning, Reflecting, Flaming, Sabotaging Pack 83% off ($14.99) (Bulletstorm, Burnout Paradise, Mirror's Edge, Mercenaries 2, The Saboteur) (NOT Steam, but can likely be activated on Origin through EA support)

-

The Amazon summer sale on PC games has just begun, and is going to last all month long.

It should be noted that both Max Payne 3 and Spec Ops: The Line can be activated on Steam. While Max Payne 3 doesn't require Steam, Amazon gives you the option of buying a Steam code. Just be sure to select the version with "Steam DRM" on the product page. Otherwise you may purchase the regular Amazon download (which still contains Gameshield DRM).

Spec Ops: The Line requires Steam regardless.

Many of these games activate on Steam. In fact, a lot of these games are sold similarly to Max Payne 3: They actually give you the option of getting the Steam version or not. Even games that aren't typically Steamworks - like GTAIV - you can still get a Steam code. Which is really cool.

The page says to "Check back for new deals the entire month of July," so I assume the deals will change periodically. Here's a list of notable deals:

Max Payne 3 50% off ($29.99)
Spec Ops: The Line 50% off ($24.99)
Borderlands: GOTY Edition 75% off ($7.49)
Crusader Kings II 75% off ($9.99)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 50% off ($29.99)
Call of Duty: Black Ops 50% off ($19.99)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 50% off ($9.99)
Civilization V GOTY Edition 50% off ($24.99)
Duke Nukem Forever 50% off ($9.99)
The Darkness II 75% off ($12.49)
NBA 2k12 50% off ($9.99)
Syndicate 50% off ($14.99)

Tempted to bite on Max Payne. Although I don't usually buy games priced above 20$, I do want to support the gaming industry.

Got that email this morning, nice price drops. Ill probably pick up Max Payne 3 eventually but Im just too busy with BF3 atm.

Ive never seen a CoD title drop in price as fast as MW3 has, but after trying it on the free weekend I can see why.

:(. £29.99 I paid for Max Payne 3. Saying that, I enjoy playing it and I suppose paying full price sometimes can help the industry.

Steam better get their butt's into gear, otherwise I'll have all my purchases done with Amazon, GMG, GGG and GamersGate soon.

OK, when does Max Payne 3 go on sale?

What do you mean? It's currently on sale for $29.99 if you click the link.

If anything, support them because they did a fantastic job coding Max Payne 3 for PC. It's a really well-crafted game.

The digital-distribution market must be seriously cutthroat. Spec Ops: The Line literally just came out 5 days ago, and now it's already 50% off. On Friday I bought it for $37 on GMG. I could've waited two days and gotten it even cheaper. :p

Do you like it? Reviews said story is great, but cover system is clunky.

Yes, and how does that make people who bought it for release price feel?

Yes, and how does that make people who bought it for release price feel?

Depends. I've followed PC game deals long enough to know that new titles are often discounted very quickly after release (Spec Ops being an extreme example). I bought Max Payne 3 at full price knowing that it's a fairly short game, and I knew I could've waited a month or so for a price drop. But I payed the premium so I could have the instant gratitude of playing it now and not later.

I can understand how a lot of people would feel cheated or disappointed because of this. But that's just the risk of buying games on release.

Pretty much. I wouldn't say it's "clunky" - the gameplay is fluid enough - it's just nothing special is all. It plays like your standard 3rd person cover shooter.

The story is fantastic though. In fact, that's why I bought it. People were saying that Spec Ops: The Line has the most interesting storyline of any other "generic military shooter" ever made. So far I have to agree with them. They took a bold move by creating a really deep story. I'll admit there are parts of the game that legitimately made me not want to kill people.

I'm thinking hard about getting Max Payne 3, but I don't like some of what I've been reading it about it.

Non-skippable cutscenes in a game full of them? First playthrough I'll watch, but then I don't want them mandatory on a game that only takes 12 hours.

Also, I read it's a cover shooter now? The other two were all John Woo craziness, and you hid behind stuff that could be blown apart, but what I'm reading makes it sound like pre-set assets (like you always hide behind the same looking box or low wall).

I tried getting into Deus Ex 3 but the combat was awful, not the least of which was the stupid cover system. Theres also too much head bouncing and other things I dont care for.
The old classics are being rebuilt to impress the console crowd, which is big on pretty and short on gameplay.
I started up another game of Deus Ex and am having much more fun. I suggest you do the same with MP 1 and 2.

For those who have completed Spec Ops : The Line :
How is the replay value ?
Would you play it again now that you know the story ?
Is there multiplayer and is it fun ?
Being mainly RPG and strategy gamer, I never spent more than 8 dollars on an FPS so I'd like to know more about it before pulling the trigger.
