I ordered a DS for a gift and I ordered it on the 9th and it's scheduled to be shipped on the 14th and delivered sometime around 21st-27th. Assuming it arrives closer to the 27th, that's nearly 3 WEEKS!!!

does super saver take so damn long generally? Does is it shipping parcel post or something slow. Will amazon use USPS or UPS for such a small package?

please don't post saying how great having amazon prime is or anything like that because I really don't want to hear it.

Amazon Prime is really great! I get everything in 2-3 days instead of 2-3 weeks!

But seriously: yes, Super Saver is very often 2-3 weeks since they put you at the back of the line for processing, then use the slowest / cheapest shipping they can (media mail for books & DVDs)

More likely than not they don't have any in stock, which is why it shows a scheduled delivery on the 14th. After that, super shipper is what, 7-10 days?

Super saver shipping is really random I've found... Sometimes they're tell you 2-3 weeks to ship and it ships in 1-2 days. Other times it's a month or more.

Before I had Prime, I always had pretty good luck with Super Saver Shipping. I'm fairly close to one of their warehouses and they always seemed to use UPS.

I needed something quickly once and signed up for the free Prime trial and it was so useful I didn't cancel it. I share it with my folks and sisters and they get a fair bit of use out of it as well.

You won't spend a few extra bucks for shipping a gift? What's that smell? Is that Cheap Bastard cologne?

tbh I ordered super saver in hopes of it shipping via USPS instead of UPS. I have issues with UPS and I would rather not support them. I realize that expedited would almost always be UPS but snail mail might be USPS and I would rather support our postal service.

Super Saver Shipping is never a priority for them.
I've had it take anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks.

Pick 3 day shipping if you don't really need it right away but don't wanna wait a month for the free shipping method. It's not gonna kill you.

Same here. Their estimated ship dates are always way off. Usually it ships much sooner, and sometimes much later.

I've ordered probably 20 items from them in the past 3 months and I always get things in 3 days max. Most of the stuff came in 1-2 days after the order because it was all being sent UPS ground via Louisville, KY and I live in Nashville area. That's one day free shipping. It all depends on how quick they ship it from the facility. I've been lucky that they either ship next day or 2 days.

update,

my item did ship USPS (YAY) and is expected to arrive by the 19th. I knew it would ship usps because I doubt they use UPS for 2lb packages esp. the supersaver shipping. It shipped from their PA facility. How many facilities do they have?

on the flipside, the longer the package is in transit (parcel vs. priority) the more it gets beat up. :(

shrug, I used the cheapest delivery option on something I ordered Sunday evening (so that the order would get processed early Monday) and it arrived today.

I can't use UPS without getting raped on customs handling fees. Canada Post/ USPS are great, I paid $18.79 for duty on a $100 package earlier.
