First time I sold something at amazon. Sold a book. What do i need to do so I don't have problem with a buyer.

1. How to ship? Regular usps with signature or ups?
2. How do I get paid or get the funds. Looks like the buyer paid but I don't see any balance?

I know about the shipping stuff through usps but just want to cover all my basis so I don't have problem with the buyer.

Thanks ATOT

Amazon will hold your funds for a few weeks after you ship the item out since you're new. After you're established, they'll release funds as soon as you ship the item (i.e. enter tracking information into the system).

If it's less than 13 ounces total, ship it first class with delivery confirmation. More than 13 ounces, it's up to you whether you ship media mail or priority mail with delivery confirmation. Unless the buyer paid for priority mail, then don't ship it media mail. :p

I require a signature on all items > $200, though I don't recall what the Amazon policy is. Most things > $100 I ship UPS or FedEx rather than USPS.

The three main things book buyers on Amazon complain about are inaccurate descriptions, damage that happens in transit, and slow delivery. Books are more durable than electronics, but you still want to package the book well, so that it doesn't get creased/bent/whatever in transit. Bubble mailers are cheaper to ship than boxes, but boxes provide better protection. Ship your item promptly (same or next day is best). Hopefully you described the book accurately.

1. I just use media mail, no signatures or anything. If they're going to scam you, they're going to scam you period.
2. You must confirm shipment before the funds are available for withdrawal.

I sold a Nintendo DSi through Fulfillment by Amazon (they call it FBA). I listed it at $85, but ended up getting about $68 because of Amazon's various fees related to FBA. I'm pretty satisfied with the experience. Just ship it off to Amazon and let them deal with the rest. When it sells they ship it to the buyer and handle the customer support from that point on.

Obviously that's not the way to get the absolute most for your product, but you do get the advantage of being able to offer Prime shipping, which helps stuff sell faster. I think the DSi sold in about 3 days.

I believe Amazon requires buyer to have credit card info entered before they process order and let you see it (it says pending).

To get payment transferred into your account, you have to click on confirm shipment and ideally enter in shipper, method of shipment, and ideally tracking number.

Payment will show up in your account in a few hours.

You can wait till Amazon automatically disperses to your bank account (make sure you entered that info), or you can choose to have dispersement take place right then.
