I preordered Assassins Creed, and Amazon sent me an email for a buy one get one free code. So if you reordered a game you can still get in on this deal.

Can you cancel the preorder and still use the code?

The Target deal 11/10-11/16 is for ALL games across ALL systems, not just PS4 or launch games.

Great way to snag up those first party titles that are "Mario taxed" and never come down on their own.

Mario taxed, I like it.

Because it's true.

Funny thing is that none of the first party stuff interests me at all. If I hadn't cancelled my PS4 preorder I would get these:

Assassin's Creed 4
FIFA 14
Injustice GAU UE

I'm struggling to pick two more, might not do the deal and just keep the one game I preordered.

Target prorates the return value of the games so you can buy three and return the extra ones and just keep the others for $40.

Not sure about Amazon.

Or just sell the ones you don't want.

I just checked with Amazon, as I had ordered several games and not received a code. Apparently you had to order games before 11/9 to qualify for the code that you received. I ordered mine on the 9th and was simply told that I didn't qualify.

Posting just in case anyone else is in the same boat.

I pre-ordered a PS4 back in June, and I got a buy one get one free code here.

I already have Killzone coming with the pre-order bundle, and I also picked up Assassins Creed 4 and madden 25.

I see Sony changed their terms of service to restrict reselling games.

Looks like they are reneging on the promise not to restrict used game sales. Good luck with these new consoles, I'll stick with PC gaming. I already have too many great games to play in my game backlog to worry about console exclusives.

You were just punked by Neowin. They're really reaching with that. Terms like those are always in these TOS's. They do that to allow themselves some leeway in scenarios where someone might try to sue them for not letting you have a functional copy of an MMO if you resell it. It's not to keep you from reselling your standard games.

Plus, the other clause was about you not having the right YOURSELF to rent out your own games as a business. You've never had that right. You could do it, but Sony and any entertainment company is going to take a dim view of you buying a regular priced copy of a game and starting a business of renting it out.

That clause is meant to ensure you go and buy a licensed copy for rental, like the ones you'd see Gamefly or (used to be) Blockbuster buy. Yes, they are different.

I knew this when I was a kid. You'd see a game that was available for NES or SNES that you couldn't get anywhere BUT the rental places. When I'd try to find out why, they'd say they had to buy specially licensed versions of games and that's why they'd charge you an outrageous price if you didn't return it.

This is also why when Netflix or Red Box were going and buying their copies of certain blu-rays from stores to rent, they were causing the ire of WB and the others that built their rental business on the backs of "specially licensed" versions of movies.

Games are the same way. This is them just sealing up that little hole for businesses. Not users.

In reality, this "news" was just Neowin reaching because Xbone looks pretty screwed. They want people to have a hissy and overreact based on limited info.

Going to try and order my games when clock hits 12pm est here. Hopefully they will arrive on Thursday since I still have prime. If not, target is across the street but I doubt they will have stocked shelves by lunch time.

If you order with fre 2 day prime it should get there Thursday, if you pay $3.99 for next day, it should be there Wednesday. Since the console launches Thursday at midnight, you should be fine.
