This thread is locked. Any more talk about how to scam Amazon's Prime shipping will result in mass vacations.

Wasn't sure where to put this but I'm curious from people that have amazon prime if they find it wortwhile?

I got a free month trial with my last purchase and trying to decide if I should keep it for the rest of the year.

The free 2nd day shipping is nice but I'm wondering if there is any other benefits with it such as discounts or sales for Prime members some times?

No, but if you order a decent amount of stuff it pays for itself rather quickly. If you are one of those people that waits to buy things so you can consolidate shipping charges, it is a good thing to look into.

I have it, I think it's great. Small one time cost, and I buy enough stuff on Amazon that it pays for itself fairly quickly.

Amazon Prime FTW. Love it. Free 2 day shipping and overnight for 4 bucks is awesome. Tax free+Free shipping=I buy a lot of stuff at amazon

Edit: Got it for $16 so it paid for itself after just a few orders

You buy from Amazon.com often, like every week or 2, it's definitely worth it. I don't really care when my stuff comes, I just pick the default over $25 free shipping option.

people on slickdeals have gotten together to spilt the offer. i think when u sig up u can give it to six people "in your household" so it ends up costing each person like $17 or something.

Go in on it with 1 or 2 other people to bring the cost down. You can "share" prime with friends and family, so once its activated on your account they can get it activated on theirs as well.

I have it and use it quite a bit.

Buddy ole pal! How yah been? So..... how bout that Amazon. Ohhh, you're a member of Amazon Prime you say? Ohhh that must be nice, I can't afford things like that. You can invite me as a friend or family you say? I wouldn't want to inconvenience you or anything.

I got an account and sold my 4 or 5 invites for $16 each, so it ended up costing $16 for everyone involved. I can't stress enough how great it is.

When someone gives me flack for paying for the service, I merely compare it to a Costco or Sam's Club membership. And honestly, with the prices/service/no tax from Amazon, it's insanely better than any warehouse store around.

This.

I went in on a splitting deal with members here on ATOT and it's been amazing. It's nice not using http://www.filleritem.com to try and get $25 for free shipping anymore.

Definitely recommend trying to get a split deal because it's a great service.

Worth every penny even at the full price.

I seriously don't know how they can undercut so heavily in prices AND lose money on shipping, but as long as they keep doing it I'll keep buying from them.

They probably have a huge discount with UPS or Fedex or whoever they use since they ship out a huge volume.

Also keep in mind that "overnight" shipping doesn't mean they pay for overnight. In many cases, they will ship via ground from a warehouse near by.

The big thing is that they make sure to get the order out the door to UPS/Fedex to have it delivered the next day.

A friend was nice enough to share his prime with me. It's so nice to just buy stuff and get it in 2 days. Order on Wednesday and get it in time for the weekend.

Prior to Prime, I would sometimes get my items 6-10 days if I did free $25 shipping.

Yep multiple warehouses definitely makes it easier. Also for a company like Amazon.... well suffice to say the discounts they get in shipping are massive because they ship so much.

Well I talked with gf and she uses amazon also so I think I'm going to keep it. 79 bucks for 2 day shipping works for me. I'll jut have to buy my video games from amazon now instead of Best Buy.

I took the free month trial a long time ago, it was pretty cool. If you shop on amazon with any regularity, it should be worth it for the free 2-day shipping alone. I rarely shop on amazon, so it's not worth it to me (not even at $16)

I have it, and it's fantastic. I make 50+ orders per year from Amazon.com. Stuff that I might have ordered elsewhere I now order from Amazon.com because the price with free shipping is less than the price would be elsewhere if I paid for the slowest shipping option.
