How is Amazon's selection? Is it similar to Netflix?

Nope. Amazon's entire collection may be similar to Netflix, maybe even a little better since you can stream current season shows, but if you just go with the free Prime streaming, no.

Netflix Streaming is still the champ. If you want more TV, add Hulu Plus.

Netflix by far. I have both, Amazon isn't even close for the free stuff they offer.

Amazon be lame. I browsed over their selections. I started to check out the original Office since I always wanted to see that but the quality was too bad.

It works on my Touchpad and has some of the shows I enjoy like Farscape and all the Star Treks, which both have to be fair. But I can't watch Netflix on my Touchpad.

Amazon prime isnt just for the streaming, but the free shipping as well. Streaming alone, prime is inferior to netflix.

Amazon is quickly improving their free selection and as others have said, it is a great value-add to Prime. I look for Amazon to directly challenge Netflix at some point with subscription-based services.

Agreed, even at the cheaper yearly price I doubt amazon's offering is comparable to Netflix. There are some decent things on there, but not nearly as much. This isn't worth getting prime for, but is a nice thing added for the free shipping.

Amazon's _free_ streaming is only worth it as a bonus to the shipping.

If you don't need sports and local news, their paid streaming ($2/episode SD, $3/HD) is an interesting alternative to cable. If you don't mind waiting for most shows to reach DVD, you could pay for 1-2 to see "live" and come out way ahead over Comcast.

There are no Amazon apps for streaming, so I've never been able to use it. I don't watch things on my PC.

What are you trying to view them on? Amazon videos work fine on my Touchpad, for example.

Same thing I use Netflix on... the 360 ;)

That said I do still have my Logitech Revue which has Netflix, and also has a full browser including flash. It should work on that. Of course when I tried to watch South Park Studios on it I got a "this device isn't supported" message.

I haven't found anything on Amazon that was missing on Netflix yet, so I have no reason to use it over Netflix.

Prime streaming selection is really bad.

I've looked on several occasions and I've never seen anything I'd want to watch. It's all crap.

I've used Prime streaming here and there. It's not bad, but I don't watch nearly as many shows as I used to. I love the shipping that comes with Prime.

I love Amazon as a company. However, Netflix streaming has no content. And Prime's is much worse, it's actually damn near completely worthless.
I don't think I ever streamed a single thing from amazon.
I had prime and I couldn't find a single thing worth streaming.

Prime is an awesome service in and of itself.

Prime streaming is a nice cherry on top of an already delicious dessert, but the selection isn't so good that I would recommend anyone subscribing to Prime just for the streaming.

I'd have to double check when I get home, but I'm pretty sure my Tivo supports watching Amazon streaming movies. (not that it's a big factor for me, I've got an old netbook hooked up to my tv over hdmi)
