Any idea what's going on here? It has always been two days for me? I'm shipping to California...

Multiple times I've had orders show more then 2 days for est delivery. Usually still shows up on time. It happened once. I called and bitched. They extended my membership by 1 month.

Weird. I thought that the *entire* original point of Prime was to get free two day shipping?

I noticed that couple days ago when I ordered the new Acer Chromebook 14. It was temporarily out of stock when I ordered but only showed 4-5 days Prime shipping option. I thought it was odd but I just figured that was because the item was out of stock. Well, I received the shipping notification email yesterday morning and the notebook was delivered the same day.

I just added the same thing to my cart and I have free two day shipping. They must not have a warehouse near you that has it in stock.

Yeah, it's just the item. I got the same 4-5 days as well for this item, but any other Prime items that I tested afterward are the regular 2 days.

Probably because it has a lithium battery in it, and you're not close to a warehouse that has it in stock that can ground ship it in two days. Look at the page for that Stanley charger.

Special Shipping Information: This product may not be available for 1 or 2 day shipping due to federal regulations that require it to ship via ground ship methods only. This product can only be shipped within the 48 contiguous states.

We really need ONE 'Amazon Prime/Shipping/Pricing Discussion ***Sticky***"
Every weeks there's more of these things

I ran into this last week ordering something. It said 2 day shipping but took 3 business days. Even when purchasing it said it would be delivered in 3. It took 3 days. I hope this doesnt become the norm for Prime.

I know this is a first world problem.

And I ended up ordering three items after 'testing' whether Prime still works the same as it always was*

This thread is a trap! 😀

*Prime still works the same. My items will be delivered Sunday

This is exactly what I was going to post.

It happens if you choose a particular item amazon KNOWS is going to take awhile to get there.

Just how living in the DC area some items are FREE same day delivery, if they happen to be located in the warehouse closest to DC. For items further afield it's free 2 day. I personally have never seen 4-5 day, but i'm sure certain items would do it.

Is that new? I only started recently seeing this ground shipping limitation for batteries.

It is actually

https://www.ups.com/media/news/en/ca/intl_lithium_battery_regulations.pdf

Shipping lithium batteries by air service
Effective 1*April 2016, both lithium ion and lithium metal batteries shipped without
equipment are prohibited on passenger aircraft.

I guess a battery charger with a battery doesn't qualify as being with equipment?

EDIT: Wait that says international. Hell I don't know. Maybe UPS is using the same regulation for domestic too?

I had all of these issues just a couple of months ago and bitched to CEO's email, got a response from the female sidekick and magically the issue seemed to resolve itself. Go figure. They are probably fine-tuning logistics based on moving Zip code borders and this is the net affect.

I'd complain about that, except I got a free UPS when they shipped me a simulated one after paying for the pure.

Where are all the Amazon transporters for Prime suckers?

I have found the same shit on ebay cheaper and I get it faster in most cases. Not everything can be found on eBay, but I compare the two websites.

Oddly I too find Ebay much faster. It's all coming from China, so not sure why. Though with Amazon does it get shipped to their warehouse first and then to you? So that's probably where some of the delay is. Even from China I don't see why anything should take more than 2 weeks.

Have to admit logistics have gotten much more efficient in the past decade or two. I remember ordering stuff from Toronto area when in high school and it would take like 2 weeks. Now it's like 2 days.

OK, so shortly after I posted above I went on their website and ordered a Bluetooth receiver. Not sold by Amazon, but was fulfilled by Amazon. And get this, it said if I ordered within 5 hours something minutes (ahem, Midnight) I would get it by 8PM Sunday night.

Challenge Accepted! I ordered and thinking 'no way it'll get to me in less than 48-hours with the deadline being 8PM Sunday.' Then I noticed this morning it was already in route to me at 2:18AM. Sitting on Columbia, SC (I'm in Buford, GA). Damn!

I had my first late Amazon order out of 300 orders in the last 2 years. It was 16 hours late. They gave me a partial refund and a month of Prime. I have no complaints about that. Shit happens.
