So, I've known that amazon prime sells 3rd party seller items, but always thought that they were housed at amazon warehouses and shipped by amazon. I bought an xbox one game last week on prime and it was supposed to come in yesterday. Looked in my account at the tracking number, and it was "awaiting delivery to USPS location." It hadn't even been shipped. Get on chat with amazon and they said that it was supposed to ship FROM the 3rd party seller. WTF? That isn't prime, that's a regular 3rd party seller. Why would I pay $100 to get this type of unreliable service?
Edit: ok, since I've gotten a bunch of push back and accusations of lying about this, I'll consolidate some info I've posted in responses. First off, I've been given 1 month free prime and the seller has been contacted and replied that they're looking into it
First off, here is proof of the prime purchase. Free 2 day shipping is about the only actual proof you get that an item is a prime eligible purchase
The "shipped" is incorrect bc that just means a shipping label has been created. It showed up as "waiting for delivery to USPS location" or some such. I ordered it on 3-16
So that seller is here. If you're on a pc you can click on "products" and see their prime items for sale
Finally, here is the verbiage of "fulfilled by amazon" that is clearly not true:
"Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a service we offer sellers that lets them store their products in Amazon's fulfillment centers, and we directly pack, ship, and provide customer service for these products."
