I swear Amazon must monitor what things I put in my shopping cart when I'm looking at stuff. When I don't pull the trigger immediately they raise the price.

I put a $26 Christmas present type item in my shopping cart and went back the next morning to buy it (after confirming that's the toy my son wanted) and I found the price had jumped to $36.96. $10???

Usually when I'm price checking or wanting to come back to something later to purchase I throw them in my shopping cart. I've had this happen more than a couple of times the past few months.

So here I'm just sitting on the item, I have Prime so I have some time to wait it out. Today it drops to $32, but I want my $6!!

So I guess the moral of the story is if you snooze you lose...

I would be pissed too, but I never had such problem when ordering a vacuum for my mother on Amazon.

I think it usually varies by vendor and availability. If three people buy the last items from one vendor, you go with the next best one. Some times, that'll cause a massive price hike. Then again, it could just be Amazon in general.

The moral of the story is right though. Buy now.

Amazon delivers my packages in 2-3 days and has the best return policy. I don't mind paying a few bucks extra to shop there than say Buy.com, Fry's, J&R and eCost who all have suck ass return policies.

I order stuff and cancel them right away all the time to taunt Amazon. You can't have my money!

They did that to one of my shopping cart items too. Raised the item 10%. I was going to cancel the item and find another one, but when I couldn't, I gave up and just had to eat the higher cost. Lame, but still 20% cheaper than a brick and morter store.

Welcome to dynamic pricing. Ninja ferengi practices beget ninja vendor practices. It's a war out there. Just put on your kevlar krotch kup and keep your head on swivel.

It can happen to stuff that is "Fulfilled by Amazon". It happened to something I bought too, it was eligible for Prime but was sold by someone else. The price went up by like 4 dollars. I never saw it for stuff that is "Sold" by amazon

Exactly. Once Amazon runs out of stock they switch to third-party sellers.

Besides that, they do have daily sales and price matching that can change a price wildly between on-sale and off. One item I was looking at bounced back and forth between $18 and $40 over several days. I looked at it Monday, $18. I was going to order it Tuesday, $40. I said no way, then Wednesday it was back at $18.

If it's being sold by Amazon themselves, just call them up. I did that with a camera when I looked at it in the morning and then that afternoon the price had jumped. I was able to talk them back down to what it was since I wasn't going to buy it at the higher price.

"Buy Now. Think Later." - the motto at $lickD3als. Especially with Amazon and their return policy (not to mention you're a Prime member, you deserve to lose that $6). ;)

I was watching a set of Antec Rockus speakers. The list at $200, amazon had them for the longest time at $170. Then for a day or two the price dropped to $100 (and I immediately bought my set ;) ). Now they're back up to $145.

The prices go all over the place. In the end just buy when you think something is a good deal and don't buy if you think it's too pricey. If you try and plan out what the price is going to do you'll drive yourself nuts.

Yeah there prices do jump a bunch, especially when I have it in my shopping cart it seems. I'll look at the stuff for weeks, and nothing, drop it in my shopping cart and the price jumps up....

Oh well...

This particular this went down to $29 so I went ahead and bought it....

I saw a laptop backpack that was coming up later in the day for the lighting deals they're doing so I made a point to come back when the deal went live to see how much less it'd cost. It was $79 before the discount on Amazon. Right when it went life the original price changed to $129 and the backpack was now $69.

WTF! basically dropped it $10 but made it look like it was half price. Shady shit right there.

The prices are same for all people right? It's not like it only goes up in your cart?

Well, I was about to buy a 50 pack of Verbatim DVD+R DL discs and the price jumped from $39 to $47. I ended up holding off but kept the page open and refreshed everyday for about a week. When I saw it went down to $32 I jumped on it. Score! Cheaper than I was originally going to pay.

So the moral of the story is Amazon prices fluctuate a lot.
