This is a great idea for Amazon. Prime already is worthwhile IMO, but this is just another reason to have it.
After enabling library-book lending on Kindles in September, Amazon has introduced its own e-book-lending program: Kindle Owner's Lending Library is currently offering over 5,000 titles for loan, which include among them more than a hundred current and former New York Times bestsellers.
Owners of any generation Kindle device (including the upcoming Kindle Fire tablet, shipping November 15) who are also Amazon Prime members can borrow e-booksonly one book at a time, and just one per month, but you can hang onto it as long as you like. The e-books will not work on Kindle apps, thoughonly on Kindle devices. (And if you're not a Prime member, Amazon's offering a one-month free trial of the service, which costs $79 a year.)
