I'm thinking of taking this deal into the AT&T store and see if they will match the free phone (V60) AND give me a better $30 a month deal than are posted on the Amazon website. I currently pay $22.50/month for 60 peak, with offpeak starting at 7 and 350 offpeak. It's with WORLDCOM, thinking I should switch sometime soon, in case they go belly up! LOL

Even if WorldCom goes belly up, your service would not be discontinued, for it will continue operation under Chapter 11 protection or that branch sold to some other players. IDT has already made 5 billion dollar offer to buy WorldCom MCI branch and some fiber branch.

If you sign up you can call at&t and switch your plan at any time. I signed up under amazon.com and then called AT&T the day my phone arrived and switched to the 300minute national plan. When you switch it applies to the entire current month billing cycle so you can call any time before the first month is over and all the current month's charges will be recalculated to the new plan.

Does At&t wireless pricematch? I've heard Sprint PCS was matching the rebates on Amazon's page upfront. The deal on the V60T would be HOT if that were the case. Free with no rebates!

I called two AT&T retail stores and asked generally if they price match their dealer's advertised prices. I did not specify the Motorola phone. One AT&T store said, "no" and another said, "it depends, why don't you come down with the ad and we'll see what we can do." It may depend on how desparate that store or salesperson is for an activation.

I just got V60 from Chinatown in Flushing, NYC for $0 - $100 rebate = made $100!!! It's a AT&T phone. I had to get rid of my sprint phone 'coz sprint service was so bad here in northern new jersey!

yea this is pretty common in nyc, not just chinatowns...v60 is FREE and u get the $100 rebate from att so u make a hundred beans... i just got this last week and actually prefer 917... quality and reception is great for me and the v60 is a great phone...

edit: not having to wait for $250 worth of rebates makes it twice as nice!

No, I got area code 973 (morris county). They originally gave me 917, but after I said it's no good, they negotiated with At&t and gave me 973.
