Amazon Memorial Day Sale: Almost 20 4G phones free*

People looking to buy a 4G phone, Amazon's got you covered, provided you buy the phone on contract.

http://www.mobilecrunch.com/2011/05...exus-s-4g-and-more-for-free-on-amazon-monday/

Memorial Day isn’t usually a gift-giving holiday, but Amazon’s Memorial Day sale may put you in the mood to treat yourself. Almost 20 4G phones will be listed for free (with a contract, of course) on Amazon’s site on Monday, including some pretty top-of-the-line devices like the HTC Thunderbolt, Samsung Droid Charge, LG Revolution, and Google Nexus S 4G.

EDIt: Prices slashed for the weekend.

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/2...arge-thunderbolt-and-revolution-on-the-cheap/

Our friends over at Amazon just reached out to let us know of their big ol’ Memorial Day Weekend 4G sale that has already begun. They’ve slashed prices on all 4G phones which includes the lineup currently offered by Verizon: HTC Thunderbolt ($129), LG Revolution ($149), and DROID Charge ($179). Not a bad deal, I’d say. Obviously those are the new customer prices, but I’ve looked at the “upgraded” pricing and it’s almost as enticing and just a few bucks higher.

And to top that off, there is also word floating around that these will all be free on Monday, but we have been unable to confirm that with Amazon directly. If we do, we’ll be sure to update this post.

Dude, if I get in now I can have unlimited 4g on Verizon before they shit can that program!

😱

How do you go thru so many new phones man? It seems like you have a new phone every month. Are you getting some sort of deal that I dont know about? Please tell me your secrets.

Just saw some great weekend sale prices, for Verizon phones at least.

That may not seem like a great deal but keep in mind rugged phones are usually between 50 and a hundred dollars more. So 20 bucks for a good rugged Android is a steal.
But its not 4g, which would be way too presumptuous on my part.

Return them within 30 days.
I dont like most of what I get, and the really expensive stuff (Thunderbolt at normal price) scares me.
A cheap ass Thunderbolt this weekend will make me very happy.

Is it just me, or does the first wave of 4G phones seem like a scam?

Its almost like the phone executives got together and said "we know that Apple won't have a competitor for us until mid-year or even later, so lets crank out a ton of glorified 4G phones with parts from last year to clean up on margins before they force us to use modern parts with the iPhone 5!"

Many of these phones- like the Droid Charge or Infuse- should have been this cheap from the get-go based on specs.....

If this is real, it's insane. I know most of you are holding out for the SGS2 or EVO3D/Sensation, but this not only includes Charge, Revolution, and Thunderbolt but also the Atrix, G2x, Sprint Nexus...

(Personally I'll wait for Kal-El or switch to a discount carrier, haven't decided which...)

The LG Ally looks good.
On Verizons website its free for 4 days.
I like LG's cuz they have awesome keyboards no matter what. Smart, dumb, Android, WP7.

As of 7AM nothing is free. But we still dont have a full list either, I just checked the Thunderbolt and Charge.
However, they are at their weekend slashed prices so thats good news.

Oh, and they only have 19 4g phones so its unlikely they will have 20 on sale.
And 18 are Android, 1 is WebOS (the Veer, the tiny one, AT&T only). No BB, no Nokia, no WP7.

8AM Eastern Time: No free 4g phones.

why do cell phone companies scream about deals on there phones when there monthly plans are horrible. i couldnt care less if a $300 phone is $1.00 today, lower the monthly rate too.

Seems like you may have answered your own question.
Business, ALL businesses exist to make money. Nothing else.
Part of the business plan is convincing you they have your best interests at heart, which of course is in direct conflict with theirs. Its a lie. It always has been.

Just accept it. You wanna pay a lower monthly fee, go Virgin Mobile.

As for me, I know I want Verizon with unlimited data and if I'm gonna pay 80 bucks a month for that, I may as well have a damn nice phone too. A deal on Amazon is good news for me cuz I knew I was gonna have a high end phone anyway, so its good I waited for a deal like this.

Having said that: Its 10 o'clock and the phones are not free. The rumor was bullshit. But 129 for a Thunderbolt is still good, so I may jump in anyway.

That's a good price for the Thunderbolt, but the Charge isn't that much more expensive and seems like it's an all around better phone.

Actually a lot of reviews have said the Charge repeatedly drops 4g (which on Verizon is a real bitch cuz you cant get it back without restarting the phone), but the Thunderbolt doesnt drop 4g.

I like the Charge because it has hard buttons which are infinitely superior to the touchscreen variety. I am always accidentally hitting the soft buttons on my Droid, or not sure if my presses registered.

I just read a bit about the Charge, think I'd stick with the ThunderBolt (if you can handle the poor battery life)

I cant handle the poor battery life or the soft keys.
Will be waiting until November when my contract is up.

But for those who NEED a good price on the fastest phone currently available, I recommend jumping on Amazons deal today.

The battery life would ruin it for me. I can't take my phone into my office so my phone sits outside the office or in my car for 8+ hours a day. If could charge my phone at work then it wouldn't bother me too much.

I'm still debating, I've still got my original Droid and it's starting to slow down a bit. I might try upgrading to the newest CM build since mine's about a year old now and see if that speeds it up a bit.
