It'll be like in videogames... everybody will continue to hoard toilet paper, but not actually use any of it, until the virus is finally over and they have 5,000 rolls of unused toilet paper just sitting in their basement.

Pretty much. I bet lot of them will be trying to sell it on FB marketplace lol.

Check out craigslist to lose faith in humanity. There's some prick selling toilet paper for $4/roll, and another selling hand sanitizer for $100/bottle.

But the hand sanitizer guy is a good guy, because he states, "I hate to sell these but there are people who need it more than I do." What a saint.

The guy did nothing illegal

Actually...

Tennessee Price-Gouging Actof 2002 (Tenn. Code Ann. ... Tennessee's price gouging laws make it unlawful for individuals and businesses to charge unreasonable prices for essential goods and services, including gasoline, in direct response to a disaster regardless of whether the emergency occurred in Tennessee or elsewhere.

He in deep doo-doo... needs to find TP.

More importantly, this sets a nice precedent for anyone who thinks they're being clever.

Last I checked I saw a news item that said he donated all of it.

I guess there is SOME kudos we can give to him after being Dr. Douchebag.

Fake Edit: Here is one

I wouldn't give him any kudos as he obviously donated it in hopes that they'll decide to not criminally prosecute him. The State of Tennessee has 17,700 reasons to make an example out of him and I really hope they do.

EDIT:

The guy is a real piece of work. See the video clip here where he talks about "cutting his losses". He was listing it for sale at $70 a bottle.

This guy's still a fucking tool, here's some of what he had to say,
"In an hourlong interview Sunday, Colvin expressed remorse for his actions and said that when he decided to hoard the sanitizer and wipes, he didn’t realize the gravity of the coronavirus outbreak or the severe shortage of sanitizer and wipes. " Bullshit, he was banking on it, why else go on a 2-state tour wiping out everything you could find.
“When we did this trip, I had no idea that these stores wouldn’t be able to get replenished.”
Bullshit again, from early on reports were clear that retailers were out and did not know when manufacturing would catch up with demand, that's the reason for the trip and to charge $70 for a $3.99 bottle of sanitizer. If people could get them at retail who would bother with Ebay/Amazon.

Oh, and just so everyone knows, he got 2,000 pandemic "kits" from a liquidation site for $3.50/pop, each had 50 masks 10 gloves and 4 1oz bottles of sanitizer, he sold them all on Ebay for $70/pop so still made plenty of $$. Even more reason he understood there was a huge shortage of these items. for this I'd give him a pass though since they were not going to be available retail anyway.

Considering he donated them afterwards.... I think he bought roughly 17,000 sanitize pumps - $2 ea. = $34,000... + other stuff he bought like masks, kits, or whatever.... That definitely punched him in the dick and was a lesson learned.

Ultimately I don't think he should be bankrupt, but maybe some time in pound me in the ass prison?

Community service distributing care kits to the homeless.

This. Of course, the irony would almost certainly be completely wasted on somebody like him, so he still needs to spend at least a little time at the county jail being Benny Joe Jim Bob's newest stud muffin.

Seems as of last night Amazon has announced both anticipated delays on orders (I've already experienced it), and that they are hiring 100,000 people because of the huge uptake in orders.

From what I understand, he didn't donate anything. They tried to reach out to him after he stated he would, but never responded. So they forcibly removed it all from his storage instead. Dick-wad extraordinaire.

For the amount of effort he put into screwing people, and lying when trying to explain himself, I say let his name be dragged in the mud for life.

This firm (a marketing company doncha know) is giving away the 1000 rolls of TP they had now that their employees are staying home, and asking other companies with TP that is just sitting there to bring theirs by as well. it may well be a marketing ploy, but every little bit helps. :)

He made $133k from the pandemic kits. I think he's doing alright.

If everyone is supposed to stay home and not gather in 10 or more crowds, Where are the homeless and breadline occupants going to go?

Ordered some stuff off Amazon and it will only be in next month, and it's actually stuff that's fulfilled by Amazon. Shows how backlogged they are.

It's stuff I can do without, but I do kinda hope it does show up faster as it will facilitate me if I have to work from home if it happens. Basically just adapters and such so I can more easily add my work PC to my existing KVM switch setup without redoing everything.

Worse case scenario though I think I will just setup my work PC separately. Will be bringing 2 of my 4k monitors and then use one of my existing HD ones for the primary. Will make due with that. I feel if we work from home we'll be somewhat working reduced capacity anyway.

My daughter and I both work in grocery stores. We had people WITHOUT BABIES HORDING FUCKING BABY FORMULA and had to put a stop to it. We had a guy last week who came in at 5 a.m. and tried to buy every cold and flu medicine we had on the shelf. He flipped when told no and tried to get tough with a female cashier. If it had been up to me I would have had law enforcement trespass him from the store for a year. If it was up to me I would have kicked a lot of assholes out of the store in the past 10-day.

But a lot of people are being nice as pie about the limits and thanking us for coming to work. People's true colors are coming out.

Amazon is suspending shipments from independent merchants for non-essential items so they can catch up on medical and household supplies:

I think the wife ordered some stuff the last few days, so as of right now we're still expected to get stuff within the next few days. But if you're buying random things you might be waiting a few weeks.

Now we know what all of those people, back in the day, that constantly took advantage of the in-store paper (printer paper) deals at Staples are doing. Now they can use that 92 brightness paper on their rear-end!

Lol yeah need to be sure to flush a couple extra times if putting that down the toilet.

um, no. you can't flush that. you have to toss it in the trash.

don't be stupid in thinking that just because you can't see it in your toilet, and your plumbing in your house isn't flooding, that you aren't fucking up shit for everyone else. (and yourself "very soon from now")

don't be stupid.
