Amazon is great, refunded a price drop.

Recently I ordered something for $85, and today I see the price on amazon is now $65. I spoke to someone at amazon, and they refunded me the $20 difference. Not a huge amount, but still something. Stuff like this is why I shop at amazon

Really appreciate them doing this.

Same reason I use Amazon too.

A couple of years ago, I ordered the Harry Potter Blu Ray set for my wife for Xmas. The price was $69.99. It had not shipped yet (it ended up shipping later that day) and they had a one day deal for the same set for $39.99. I called Amazon to try to get them to credit me the difference and they refused, telling me to place another order and return the original order. So I placed another order for the set for $39.99 and had to return the $69.99 set. I thought that was a really bad way to do business.

Things like this, pacifying a greedy customer, are what make things difficult for small business owners. Customers see a price drop and, 'oh, can I get that price now?'...see a sale...'oh, can I get that sale price now'...etc. As if it's extra money the business has on hand to dole out since the perceived 'going rate' is now lower, like the customer has now been had. But since places like amazon bend over to these myopic customers, everyone else has to do it too or else they will look bad.

Looks like they listened to the complaints about this stuff, and their policy now seems to be to refund the difference.

Last year around Christmas I bought something and had not even received it yet and it was marked down like $65 cheaper than what I bought it for. Spoke to CS and they told me I would have to purchase it again and return the other. I told them how does that make sense? Then said Amazon rather lose a sale rather then credit me the difference, because I will just return the one I did purchase and buy the product somewhere else if that is the case. The CS person said they would do refund/credit me the difference this one time lol

I bought a hat for my wife and ordered the wrong size. I tried to return it, and they just said "keep it, and we'll refund your money too"

They used to give you the lower/newer pricing but at one point they stopped it and you had to order another at the new price and return the original like stated above. I guess they got enough complaints that they reversed their policy.

I brought a phone off Amazon this past winter and the price dropped $50, a two minute call and they gave me the price difference.

I tried it once with a Sony S790 blu ray player, and they wouldn't do it, saying the only thing they have price protection is TV.
