Amazon has City Skylines on sale: $11.99

Bought the deluxe edition last night on Steam for $13. Good deal. Been meaning to play this. Was a die hard SimCity guy but this apparently is a nice evolution of the city builder concept. Now I need my wife and kids to leave me alone for a few days so I can actually play it. 🙂

Dig into the mods and addons that people have created (especially the roads) There's LOTS of great stuff in there.

This looks pretty cool. I think I'm gonna pick it up, along with at least the snow DLC. Is the after dark one worth it? Both are on sale as well.

$11.21 on Steam (CDN) atm, I've had the game since it came out and it's a great game but I haven't touched it for almost half a year and I think I need to get back into it.

Word of advice, don't sink money into the snowfall DLC, it sucks, but do get the after dark one since it comes with some transportation extras.

How does it compare to Sim City?

I'd say it's fairly on par with SimCity 4 (including the NAM mods), but with a much more updated graphics engine. SimCity 2013 should just be forgotten about, period.

I have about 370 hours in the game. Compared to SimCity 4, it's not quite as challenging and perhaps less complex. It's hard to "fail" in this game, traffic is pretty much the only thing you have to worry about (it can get really bad). But it's a great game if you like just creating and designing cities. There's an absolute ton of mods for it in the workshop.

The AD DLC is worth it for the the tourism zones.
The Snowfall DLC would be much better if it added actual seasons, rather than special "winter maps" completely separate from the regular maps. There's a mod that lets you convert existing cities to/from winter, but meh. Building in the winter is annoying, everything looks the same because of the snow cover. The DLC also adds trams however, which are really cool if you like to build out the public transport.
