Amazon gold box is the best hot deal ever. EDIT: I am so 6 months ago!

Click on the gold box at the top of the amazon.com screen and each day it picks 10 random items and you get a super-super discount. You have to buy it there and then, however. For instance it just offered me a certain set of knives at $218 and said regular price was $329. Well I said "Skip forever" (meaning I don't get the good price) and double checked and indeed the regular amazon price was $329. If you happen to find something on there that you actually need the prices are wicked.

Meh. The discounts range from decent to merely piddling. I used to check every day, but the selection tended to be kitchen, power tool, and lawn offerings -- I suspect this is inventory they're trying to clear. If they offered items based on prior purchases or wish list items, I might be more inclined to look, but the randomness factor and noise level is just too high.

The only item I've bought from my gold box was the Memento LE DVD set for $10, which was actually a nice deal. Unfortunately, that's the only DVD that I've seen aside from Kate and Leopold.

Yeah, I constantly get discounts on useful products like baby products (rattles, blankets, learning toys) and heavy tools (table saws, chain saws).

Mine was like that for a while, but I've been getting some decent offers, including:

LCD panels
Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar (Mrs. Tallgeese would've royally kicked my ass, or I'd have jumped on that)

Too bad they didn't offer me:

Amazon has a lot of inflated list prices and old MSRPs so sometimes it looks like a good deal, but I check elsewhere and it's about the same price.


Once in a while they have something hot though
