Been seeing a lot of their trucks lately. Think they'll get in the general delivery business, and take on the established players? They're developing the infrastructure to make that happen.

They certainly are building up an entire delivery fleet and the infrastructure. I know they put in an order for 25K electric trucks recently.

I made a comment in another thread how I can now order things to be delivered the same day (not PrimeNow) through my Prime membership. I placed an order early this morning to arrive before 6pm. It got here around 4:30pm. You can place orders to be delivered between 4am and 8am the next morning. I use that often and wake to find packages at the door. It's like freaking Christmas every day! :D

Where is orders delivered same day ? (not PrimeNow) What cities ?

The only thing I noticed is it limits your selection which kinda sucks.

I couldn't tell you off-hand. Nashville and the surrounding counties are. It's already 6:30, so same day isn't showing for me. But if you order early in the day, I've seen by 1pm, 6pm and 10pm.

I just searched 80mm fan and if you look to the left, you can select "Deliver by 8AM". It's pretty cool. I ordered (2) Noctua NF-A8 PWM fans late last night and they were on my doorstep when I woke. :D Yes, it does limit your selection (my screen shot wasn't everything displayed) because they can only deliver what is a warehouse in your state. I've seen them same day deliver something from Chattanooga (2 1/2hrs away).

I'm in MD a few miles north of DC and we've had same day delivery for years now. Depends on the items and stuff though.

Bezos wants Amazon to be the single market for all commerce.

It's starting to get a little frightening if you think about it. I've had Amazon Prime for a loooong time now and love the convenience, but when I stop to think about one company controlling so much market share, I just don't see it ending well down the road. Maybe I'll try and wean myself off of it. When HBO Max comes to Roku I am probably going to cancel Amazon Prime and sign up for HBO and see how living without Amazon Prime is for a bit.

My sister is going to let her Amazon Prime subscription expire, and also try and transition the bulk of her Whole Foods shopping to Wegmans, and only get a few things from Whole Foods. Not like Wegmans is a small mom and pop operation, but what grocery store is in the burbs? But it's certainly no behemoth like Amazon.

And that's exactly why I do not use Roku anymore. Fuck Roku. They are trying to force HBO and NBC to use some stupid Roku app; instead of allowing them to have their own app like, oh, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, ESPN and so many more. They are using their market share to their advantage and trying to force them. I realize this doesn't have anything to do with Prime, but Roku is trash and it's only going to get worse.

I had Roku on 4 TVs. I now use Apple TV 4K (which is freaking awesome actually) and nVidia Shield (mostly for Kodi w/ HDR). HBO Max is great and we also got a free year of Apple TV+. It has some decent content and we can let it lapse next summer if we don't like it. Win-Win.

HBO Max and Peacock are both owned by Warner Media and they aren't on Amazon's Fire streaming stick platform either, due to similar issues. Advertising: https://www.indiewire.com/2020/08/heres-why-hbo-max-peacock-arent-on-roku-fire-tv-1234580129/

I get the issue with Roku going from being just a piece of hardware to now a money making platform, but I have nothing in the Apple ecosystem and just using the AppleTV remote once at a client's house pissed me off enough to not want one. Total form over function. I guarantee you that once AppleTV gets enough market share they will start having the same issues with providers and negotiating fees. Just look at the issue with Epic games and the Appstore. AppleTV is just trying to get marketshare now. They'll come around.

get a 120mm fan with a speed adjuster. keep it low to reduce noise and boost it when you need extra cooling.

I feel so dirty when I order anything from Amazon...
I don't feel dirty, but I do feel a little guilty at times. Over the last 18 months or so, I try to find the item at a different retailer and buy it there instead. Most of toys I've ordered from actual toys shops instead of Amazon, even though I would have received them 3-5 days quicker going through Amazon.

Otherwise, there won't be any competitors left for Amazon. I know sometimes you need an item fast, and Amazon has the best (and by far the largest) inventory out there.
