I sent an email to Amazon - about a Product I order on Friday for 2 day shipping - that was shipped that same day. I checke don the tracking - and saw my product (Frontpage 2003) - was cut by about $20.

I asked them if they would give me a gift certificate or something for that $20 - to avoid my returning it - and ordering their new price.

Anyone know what they have done in the past? Actually - it'll turn out to be a one day delivery - according to the tracking as the shipping site is only one state away from me. - Heck - I could have driven and picked it up.

I'm hoping they will credit me - or - I'll order a new one. - I'll only set me back 2-3 days - but its the hassle.

I ordered a leather jacket from them and the day after I recieved it, the price dropped around $10-$15. I called them up (didn't bother emailing) and they refunded the difference on my credit card. No questions asked.

Wait, you bought it when it was $X, now it's $(X-20).

You agreed to pay $X. It doesn't matter if they started giving it away ten seconds after you bought it, you agreed to pay $X.

I don't see how you're entitled to that $20, unless I'm just misunderstanding your post.

Just how did you get their phone number? I don't see anything on the site - except for calling someone in investor relations - or looking up an industry guide.

He could return this and buy it again if he wanted, but that's just a PITA

Looking for the Amazon.com customer service phone number? You certainly won't find it on their site. In fact, it only shows up on the page that appears immediately after you place an order.

You can, however, find it here. I'm including all the customer service contact information that I can find. Send me a note if you know more, and I'll include it.

US Customer Service
Phone toll-free in the US and Canada: (800) 201-7575
Phone from outside the US and Canada: (206) 346-2992 or (206)-266-2992
Fax: (206) 266-2950
E-mail: orders@amazon.com (I think this will still work, but no guarantees)

You are correct, I am not entitled to the $20. However, I am entitled to their refund policy for unopened software products, and entitled to purchase more products. If they give me the $20, it will prevent them paying any extra money of the shipping to return the product. This is why places like Circuit City have the "price gurantee" thing - so people buy stuff right through the holidays instead of waiting for "sale dates."

Look at it this way - if I choose their FREE SHIPPING option - my product would not have left their door yet - and I could have cancelled the order, and created a new order witht he new price - but I choose a 2-Day shipping option and it was sent out the door right away. I don't even want cash - a Gift Certif. would be fine - because I have become a Amazon shopper because I detest Holiday traffic crowds and lines - and I would convert that G.C. into a sale right away.

And THANKS for those contact numbers - I really appreciate it - I was going to start dusting off a Thomspon's guide or hit NASDAQ research sites.

my experience is it's hard to find their phone number, but the reps are very nice and helpful and always have credited my credit card with a lowered price within 30 days.

I usually email them about it, and I get the difference credited back as a gift certificate balance.

Everything has been taken care of - Amazon does have a policy of 30 day price price protection. The gentleman whome I spoke with - gave me the option of a G.C. or a credit refund - I told him to do whatever was easist - and he went witht he credit refund.
