ETLA: Yes, the two PR960F's that I bought were new, from Onvia. Believe me, after all the research I did, I really thought that monitor had to be the best affordable unit out there. I particularly liked the USB hub. I was very disappointed. Maybe I was just unlucky. I do recommend the KDS AV-195TF though. For those that are interested, it does 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz refresh.

i don't understand why you guys don't consider to buy SONY E400, SONY monitor is well established and I don't think $382 and $440 make any different if consider that you are going to face this Monitor everyday. In other hand, rating for CTX and KDS monitor is really depended on specific people.

I don't post a whole lot here, and I am not trying to crap on the deal, but I feel that I need to give some imput on the ctx pr960f.

First of all, do not waste your time buying this monitor. As others have said, there have been convergence problems leading to a blurry image. I will second that. I had 2 of these monitors and I returned both of them due to a similar problem. One of the monitors also had an internal "rattling" noise as if something was broken. Luckily, onvia has a great return policy. I'm not so sure about amazon.

Spend your money on a real sony or a monitor with the diamondtron tube. I now own an NEC FP950 and an NEC FE950. Both use the mitsubishi diamondtron tube and are excellent monitors. Mitsubishi (surprise!), Viewsonic, and Iiyama (sp?) also make very nice monitors that use this tube.

That's all,

I'd get a viewsonic PF790 from Onvia instead for $429.XX .. and Viewsonic has a $50 MIR.

Onvia has free shipping.

KDS is awesome. The monitors are medium quality, but their prices are the lowest and the warranty is extemely generous. I've ordered about 20 KDS monitors in the last year (~10 19", 5 17", 5 15"). Of those, a 19" and a 15" were DoA. KDS has 90 day (please correct me if this is wrong) advance overnight replacement. Bad monitor? Just go to www.kds-usa.com, type in your serial number, and they'll ship you a replacement plus pay for UPS to come pick up your old monitor. You don't even have to write the RMA address on a label. Just throw the old monitor in the replacement's box, and give it to Mr. UPS. Great deal.

I very highly reccommend the NEC 19" monitors. Here is a link to get you started.

Check out Onvia for some good prices on the FP950 and FE950. The FE950 also has a $50 rebate here. It was posted on this forum a while back but is still good. Email me if you have any specific questions about either monitor.
