Anyone know how this works? My original estimated ship date was Jan 20 - Jan 27. (This is for a Sony Ericsson T610 cell phone btw).

I had it set at two-day shipping but for some reason I just wanted to see how much it would cost to change it to one-day. Since my order had not been processed yet and was still in the "HAS NOT SHIPPED" state, I changed it to one day.

To my surprise, my ship date was now pushed back to Feb 10-Feb 24. I created a new order and brought it to the final screen before purchase and it had the estimated ship date at Feb 10-Feb 24 as well.

Does anyone know when you change the shipping method on an amazon.com order, does that remove you from your current place in line and stick you at the end? That doesnt seem to make much sense so I'm hoping it is just a bug in their estimated shipping date calculations...

(The item is OOS right now, which is why the date is pushed back so far)

well your order maybe reassigned to a different warehouse which supports 1 day shipping, and if it moves warehouses , the availablity may be different.

from what I can gather, all cell phones are shipped out of the same facility in Texas (amazon subcontracts to cellstar for cell phones)...I'm just hoping I didnt get stuck at the end of the line (cause i know ALOT of people ordered after me, I got in relatively early on the deal before it went OOS).

i find their ETA way off. i've had a few orders say the item wont ship for 7 days and i have the item in 2 days.

i guess it also depends on the popularity of the item.

Do you not have a local cellular phone place around your area? I know most shops are giving the T610 free with a one year contract with $100.00 MIR. Meaning you don't have to wait for it to ship, you can get it that day, activated and all.

Well, when i got in on the deal (1/7/04) the deal was $80 with $270 in rebates, basically meaning I have a net gain of $190...

I tried to get sams club to pricematch (they had it at $80 with only $100 in rebates) but they wouldnt do it. i guess they werent willing to give me money out of their register to make the sale :) But also, they werent even willing to match it down to $.01 with the $100, though I didnt push it.
