You may return a cell phone within the first 30 days of usage/service. Amazon.com will refund you the full cost of the phone. Your cellular carrier will still charge you a prorated fee for the time you had the phone and service. The carrier will also charge you any additional roaming or long-distance fees and for any extra minutes you used. Generally, activation fees are nonrefundable. For specific answers regarding service-plan cancellations, please contact your carrier directly.

Returning the phone to Amazon.com does not cancel service contract obligations with the carrier. To cancel your existing service, you must contact the carrier directly. Carrier deposits will be refunded by the carrier as appropriate and dependent on the terms of your service contract with the carrier. Carrier contact information is provided on the packing slip/invoice that is shipped with your cell phone/plan order.

If you're returning a cell phone purchased from Amazon Marketplace, Auctions, or zShops, please contact the seller directly.

Do you think I can buy the phone then cancel the service from the carrier and keep the phone?

sure you can keep the phone. all you have to do is pay for it..


 
My real question is do you think amazon will notice that you canceled your service through T-Mobile if you do it directly through T-mobile?
 
You'll probably have to pay an early termination fee regardless of who you cancel with.

Not worth the risk.

So i think what you want to know is if you can get the service get the phone cheap or free (from amazon.com). then cancel service but keep the free phone?

But anyway to answer the question you had asked. No I don?t think you can get away with it. I wouldn?t be surprised to get a charge on a CC for the Full price of the phone and not the sign on amount for the new account.

If it was me I wouldn?t do it (besides the fact im not a thief). I wouldn?t want to pay for a $300 phone.

-please don't flame me, i was hoping to get a response from someone who might have more insight than me into this category (like a previes amazon.com cell phone buyer)

i realize all the risks, but obviously you dont' know anything more about this than I do so don't bother replying.

oh but i do know more. i know its theift. actually i guess it would fall under fraud.


but like i said you wont get away with it. you have to give them a CC number for the account. they will just charge it to the CC. but hey good luck.

Yes, you have a 30 day buyers remorse policy. However, most cell phone co.'s you can't simply switch out phones. I know that T-moblie uses the GSM standard, so you'd have to go with either Sprint GSM, or At&t wireless GSM and then you'd still have to buy a new sim card ( And then it's not guaranteed to work). Overall, it doesn't seem to smart. But, you can do what you wish. My 0.02 cents.
