Amazon.com question

So they actually just put a hold on the amount even before they ship the item? Just that they'll "post" the amount when they ship the item? It's no good way to judge if an item has been or will be shipped shortly huh?

A hold is a guarantee from your CC company that the merchant will get paid. That is placed immediately, & you will see your available credit drop.

The merchant then has 30 days to either drop the hold or complete the charge. Only when it is actually charged will it show up as "Amazon.com whatever the hell" on your credit card activity.

So no, the hold is no indication of a ship date.
