amazon.com - has anyone actually had something ship in 24 hours?

they have the "Usually ships in 24 hours" inventory status, yet i have NEVER had anything ship out that quickly. yes, yes, i know it says "usually"...but to me that implies more than half the time and i have never seen anything ship out that quickly. in fact, aside from newegg, i rarely see big companies ship out that quickly. anyone else experience this?

btw, i ordered two GMAT books to study from on 5/2. both said "usually ships in 24 hours" and both are scheduled to ship out 5/9 😕
 
Tip: Order before noon eastern/central.

I normally do this and it generally ships the same day.

My last order about 2 weeks ago was on a friday and it shipped out on saturday I think.

Even got here 4 days before the estimated delivery date of today!
 
they used to ship out my orders really fast, but lately, they are really slow, so I think they are doing this purpose so people would sign up for the prime service for $79. just a wild guess thou.
 
Once I ordered a book and it was there the next evening. However, friends have had a big waiting time and now I am wating for an mp3 player which I ordered on friday at 14h and it is supposed to have been shipped on Saturday but still not here. So i must admit they don't really do fast delivery in most cases even on avarage I don't believe it is 24h 🙂

do they mention that somewhere or is that just a given? i always thought the time to actually get the item out of the warehouse was constant, regardless of shipping method chosen (free shipping, 2nd day, 3rd day, next day, etc).

Even with free super-saver shipping, I've had stuff ship in 24 hours.

Free shipping seems to be exactly the same service, only they claim to delay your order a few days (to get you to pick standard shipping)
 
In stock item, have it a local warehouse, CD/DVDs, next day delivery if I order it before 12. Yes, this is with super saver, aka, USPS.
 
did you order the offical 10th edition GMAT? Thats never going to ship. I ordered the kaplan, princeton, and the offical ETS one and they said ship w/i 4 days. 11 days later they told me the ETS book is delayed, FSCKERS! So I called in and canceled it. Got upgraded to free 2 day shipping (UPS).

The 10th edition seems like it is out of print, i googled and it seems like the 11th edition is coming out this summer to reflected changes in who administers the tests and that now ACT and not ETS is developing the test. Right now the questions in the book overlap the powerprep software they have, the new one is supposed to have different questions. But I cant wait I'm goign to take the test in about 8 weeks, gotta do it b4 i start working

Kaplan GMAT 2005 with CD-ROM and Kaplan GMAT 800, 2005-2006
