Amazon.ca cheaper than Amazon.com?

Has anyone heard whether this is true? Some of my friends say that they find the same items cheaper from the amazon.ca site, and purchases them from the site, instead of .com, and the items ship fine. Wonder if this is the same type of thing as when Amazon listed different prices for different people, perhaps they list the items cheaper for .ca than for .com
