amazing martial arts

pontifex

***warning - very long thread***

i just watched this amazing dvd on martial arts.
it came with the Jet Li and the Legend of Wong Fei Hung dvd set. it looks like it was made in the 70s.

i think the name of the actual movie is Jet Li - The Kung Fu Years.
oddly, there is very little about Jet Li in the movie.

Anyway, it shows many different styles of king fu with demonstrations of the styles. i've seen a lot of kung fu movies but this had some of the most amazing things i've ever seen.

i wish i could find some video clips or make some clips to show you guys.

this one whole family does this one style, i think its called chi kung (who knows if the spelling is right?). from what i understand it has a lot to do with breath control.

***this is not a fake movie, this is a documentary***
the father, who was 55 at the time the video was made, can break solid granite with his head and break rocks in half with his index finger. i think he can do a lot more too.
his wife, can make a bridge with her body, her feet and hands resting on sharp swords. they then put several rock tablets on her back and break them with a sledge hammer. she is not hurt at all.

their 15 yr old daughter lays on her back on the ground, they put this huge heavy board on top of her, then the put 75 20kg weights on top of that. the guy in the video said that the total thing weighs 2000kg. i did conversion to lbs and it says thats 4400 lbs!! over 2 tons! now unless the guy in the video got it wrong or the conversion thinger i used is wrong, thats insane!

but wait! it doesn't end there! they have 2 sons. it showed the one son with a metal headed spear (wood pole) against his throat, the other end of the spear is on the ground. he leans into the spear so the wood bends. his dad then puts several heavy bricks on his back and smashes them with a sledge hammer! he walks away like nothing happened.

they also lift the same son upside down and bring his head done on a solid slab of granite and it breaks in half! the slab looks to be about 3 inches or so thick.

same son and the daughter put a metal rod between themselves and each end is at their throats. they then move towards each other and bedn the rod.

the youngest son, lets his dad crush walnuts and rocks on top of his head with a small hammer. it then shows the same kid standing there while the father smashes several clay tiles over his head and he laughs after its over!!

i don't know what breath control has to do with it but holy sh!t is that crazy!

Movie

so far i've only watched that documentary, not the other movies in the set.
the quality isn't all that great but its not as bad as some old kung fu movies i've seen. but, there are very few old kung fu movies that were good quality that haven't been redone or something.

i got it for $8 so its not like i wasted a lot of money on it. if you're a big fan of martial arts, you'll like it. even the rest of the stuff in the movie was awesome. lots of amazing weapons usage.
