There exists an algorithm that can always solve in 29 face turns. There exist positions that need 26 quarter turns, and there is an algorithm that can always solve in 42 quarter turns.

Back in the day (mid 80's) My high school had rubiks cube contests ar lunch time. Times varied from 12-25 seconds.

Considering the world record is 12 seconds..and the original world champion did it in 23 seconds, shens indeed.
