My best friend's PR is 31. It's insane to watch that kid move.

EDIT: Just realized that kid is 6...my friend is 17.

That's nothing. I have a video on my computer of someone doing it in 18 seconds.

edit: I take that back... been a while since I watched the video... it's actually 16 seconds :p

i think its hilarious that while he's doing it he's just so intensely concentrating on it, but as soon as he finishes he starts acting like a 6 year old again.

I guy used to come into the restaurant I worked at who could solve it behind his back in about 30 seconds. One of the most amazing things I ever saw. He always had it in his car and would do it upon request. Otherwise, the guy was a complete imbecile.

I wonder how fast I could do it if I practiced it over and over and over and over and over and over and over....

There are a couple ways to do it. One is basically very methodical, like solving a really complicated math problem but with different numbers in every time. Once you learn the trick, you just apply the same idea to it every time. Once you're really really good at that, you can probably do it in about 40 seconds. I've been doing it since I was about 9 (22 now) and the fastest I've ever done it was about 56 seconds using this method.

The other way to do it is basically to memorize different patterns of the cube, and then memorize the most efficient algorithm to go about solving it..e.g. you look at the cube, see that it's currently in pattern #27a, so what you want to do is use solution 13b or something.

So in comparison to the first solution, using the math analogy again, it's like memorizing a solution and being able to spit it out once you see it. Kind of like memorizing your multiplication tables vs. actually calculating out that 6*7 is 6+6+6+6+6+6+6..

I hate that bastard. It's impossible to solve a cube in that little moves. He obviously set it up before hand and just memorized the moves. ******' cheat.

Yeah. I'd rather watch Blue's Clues.

That was a good show, before that guy killed himself.
Steve Burns is still alive and well: Snopes.com

He actually released a CD a couple years ago http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000A...526335-0965425?s=music&v=glance&n=5174

The fastest I ever did the Rubik's Cube was 1:37. Then I saw a guy on That's Incredible! do it with his friggin' feet in less than a minute. I haven't touched one since.
