He has to futz with his equipment to play what he's playing. He's basically recording loops of what he's already played and then starts playing something new on top of it.. That's why by the end you're hearing several layers of music.

No shiz, Sherlock. I'm well aware of the variety of stomp boxes and delay loopers available. He's just not performing in a professional manner. In this video, he doesn't seem prepared. It may be his first performance of the day. It was just a comment.

He does have a very good sense of melody mixed with his rock style of playing, but distored electric violin is nothing new. I just don't see how this video could give someone chills.
 
That's the best I've seen with money going into a box on the streetcorner. I bet he is quite good in the studio.
