Hello everyone,
Stranger from distant lands have just registred on forums :)
Whenever I google my doubts i get linked to anandtech forums, so I decided to register here and ask question myself.

My system is:

Amacrox Warrior AX450PNF
Abit IP35-E
CoreDuo E2140
GF 8600GT
2x2GB Corsair 1066Mhz
runing 2x sata drives (1ssd)

I would like to upgrade my system (gaming wise). With limited amount of money I shouldn't change my power supply. My first choice was Q6600 (with overclock 3ghz+) and GTX 460 756mb, while reading forums i found that quad can consume even 200W under pressure, adding gpu this would be far to much for my 348W 12v line. I found that E8400 processor is produced in new technology, and it consumes less energy, however i can not find anywhere how much it needs to run 4Ghz smooth. So my final question would be:

Would Amacrox Warrior AX450PNF run my config with E8400@4ghz+GTX460 with no problems?

PS. Im really sorry for my bad english. Im from eastern europe we dont use english very often you know :)

Well, Amacrox is a quality brand, this one is 400W with 450W (top). The 12v line is 348W.

You think? By the way, is there a risk of damaging computer due to overload of psu?

Well, the PSU can definitely die and there's always a risk that it takes the rest of the computer with it. I don't think it'll be overloaded with the E8400+GTX460 though, especially if the PSU is of good quality.

Alternatively, the 5770 would be a decent upgrade while also sipping on power.

Im considering 5770, however i have same price for GTX 460 which is stronger. My only doubt is if I wont damage pc... Since Q6600 is in old technology, Overclocked must consume loads, GTX 460 needs plenty of energy. If You are saying there is a risk of computer damage due to PSU overload ill either take 5770 or consider stronger PSU i guess...

Amacrox is built by FSP, which is decent quality. You should be OK.

These Amacrox power supplies, while built by FSP, are based on the Epsilon series, a series of power supplies by FSP that are known for being, at best, mediocre performers.....lots of ripple, poor voltage regulation, and group regulated units instead of being the preferred independent regulated design. And FSP's build quality of late isn't anywhere near the quality of units from CWT, Seasonic, Enhance, etc.
