AM3+ Motherboards using older chipsets?

What is the story with these? I thought I remembered hearing that Bulldozer would require a new chipset and socket and most importantly would not work in older boards. But I've seen a few 760G chipset boards on newegg that claim to support AM3+ chips.

I've been thinking about doing a cheap upgrade to my wife's aging machine. Just dropping a Athlon II X2 in there and switch over to cheaper DDR3. I was going to just grab a cheap motherboard for the task. But if I could get one that might support Bulldozer down the road that would certainly be worthwhile.

Are these boards legit with the older chipsets? Any drawbacks?

Yep micorcenter has some 760g boards in their "Buy a CPU get a free board" offer.

They will support Bulldozer but will not use all of BDs features. Mostly power control from what some have said. But since BD is not out yet not 100%.

So if near a Microcenter then go for it. But there are some Cheap AM3+ 970 boards as well.
